SEDAN MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE
The Sedan Ministerial Alliance is made up of 11 churches. The current president is Pastor Mark Davis at First Baptist Church. The group has three purposes. The first is to provide life assistance to those who live in our community. The second is to provide outreach to the nursing home and jail in Sedan. The third is to sponsor events that bring together the community for special events and celebrations.
Life Assistance: The Sedan Ministerial Alliance sponsors a food pantry which is located at the First Baptist Church. Its coffers are filled through the generous contributions of Sedan citizens. If you would like to provide food or a financial gift to the food pantry please contact Deanna Faler at 620-725-5399. The Alliance is also able to offer some help with utility bills, rent, and emergencies such as repairing a hot water heater, gas, or a safe place to spend a night.
Outreach: The pastors/priests involved in the alliance, take turns spending time with the residents at Pleasant Valley Manor. This includes facilitating Bible study and Sunday services. They also visit with inmates at the Chautauqua County Jail which is located in Sedan.
Community Events: The biggest event the alliance takes on is organizing a summer Vacation Bible School. Each summer close to a hundred children participate in this fun, engaging program to learn more about the Bible. Every Wednesday during the school year, the alliance organizes Faith Weavers Youth Group. In the spring, the alliance organizes a Lenten Lunch series, where each Wednesday one of the churches hosts the town for lunch and a devotional message. In the fall, the alliance hosts a three night Revival. In addition, the alliance hosts a community service on Thanksgiving, a Christmas Cantata, an Easter Cantata, the high school baccalaureate, and 5th Sunday music programs.
